With Revenue.ie’s new Enhanced Revenue Reporting Requirements coming in in the new year (2024), companies are now required to submit certain uploads to the ROS.ie portal in XML formatted files only. With this being the case we are seeing a few client enquiries about developing XML conversion tools.
What is XML?
Well XML stands for eXtensible Markup Language. It is a markup language that defines rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. It is designed to store and structure textual data only. XML is widely used in providing data exchange between systems in a platform-independent way.
In short, XML greatly eases the definition, transmission, validation, and interpretation of data between databases, applications, and organisations.
Excel to XML Conversion Tool and Training
For the most part, ROS.ie’s new requirements, will see teams looking to convert simple tables of data currently stored in MS Excel files, into XML files for uploading.
